I’ve Tried All Types Of Things To Make A Living, Have A Career, To Get Financial Freedom
As I mentioned I was a U.S. Army Officer, I also worked in management at Dell Computer, and coached high school and college football. To create wealth and make more money, I’ve successfully bought and sold investment real estate, traded options, invested in the stock market, bought a gift basket franchise, and even bought vending machines (hard not to cuss about that one).
But Here Is What Worked Better For The Past Decade
In November 2000, in a Hastings Bookstore outside of Fort Hood, TX, I picked up a book by a New York Times Best Seller who said Network Marketing was his favorite stream of income… Not what I was expecting to hear. Radio check, over… I was reading the book to learn about the stock market, real estate investing, internet marketing, anything that would keep me from having to “work for the man” once I got out… But seriously…Network Marketing? You mean one of those “things”? One of those pyramids? Hmmm…What? I thought he had lost his mind. I still had the 1997 image burned into my brain of me peeling out in my Z-28 Chevy Camaro from the parking lot of a hotel in Killeen, TX. See one of my peers tricked me into going to a “financial seminar” which was actually a Network Marketing meeting that was filled with a lot of hype and excitement and little substance. And then there was my other Army buddy begging me “to do him a favor” and switch my cell phone bill and electric service. Begging didn’t seem like a business. Pretty pathetic. It all seemed a bit ridiculous and nothing that was bigger, better, badder and more legitimate than real estate or the stock market and certainly nothing that would keep me from having to get a job “in the real world” once I left the military. But this author was convincing because he wasn’t just generalizing about doing something like so many financial authors do. He was ACTUALLY doing it. So I was willing to listen. I was ready. I filled out a form. Called a recorded line and ended up buying a kit to get me in the company…I didn’t even know what that meant, but I was excited. That move turned into…
A Very Reliable $5,000 Every Week In Network Marketing Since 2003
I don’t know if I was just stubborn or if someone was looking out for me, but I discovered a secret.
Unfortunately most people don’t pay attention to and this secret and it is one of THE major causes of dreams given up, passions put on hold, and true purposes sacrificed for life “in the real world.” Whatever “the real’ world truly is.
So here it is…
WARNING: Be Careful Who You Take Advice From
I just have to tell it to you straight. Just like a good combat arms officer would.
If you are already having doubts about what I am writing…then you really need to read this…stand at attention if you have to because this is your life and this is important.
You want to know why I really listened to this author?
Truth is I didn’t know him, or any famous author for that matter.
But what he represented to me in my mind was this: Someone who was more successful in the area of creating income without a job than me or anyone I knew, and he was giving me advice on how to get that goal.
See if he was giving me advice about how to be a military officer…I would not have listened to him because he was never a military officer. Get it?
So my first bit of advice which one of my mentors, a Navy EOD Diver, who oh by the way was making over $60,000 a month in Network Marketing (NOT A TYPO) while he was an active duty E-6. He said:
Only Take Advice From Those Who Have Done What They Are Talking About
Just look at their track record. If they have not done what you are looking to do and yet they are telling you all about it or (more likely) all the reasons why it won’t work…just smile and thank them for their opinion. Then “pop smoke” and don’t listen to them.
I would love to tell you that I had all this wisdom at the time…but I was pretty green (literally) when it came to business. I had to look back at some of my own successes at the time.
All I know is that I had been the starting quarterback for my high school varsity team.
I thought to myself, gee if you want to know how to become the starting quarterback…you would ask me. You certainly don’t ask the 4th string quarterback. His advice positive or negative will never be complete. So I just used that idea when I was thinking about doing network marketing.
Funny thing is all the financially challenged people told me not to do it. “Steve that is one of those pyramids!” And all the wealthy business people I knew encouraged me to look into it and said they heard you could do really well in Network Marketing.
I came to realize that most skeptical people were broke. And others who spend their time tearing people down are not successful either. So I chose to listen to the successful people. I suggest you do the same.
Matter of fact on page 38 of Robert Kiyosaki’s brand new book, 8 Lessons In Military Leadership For Entrepreneurs, he says, “Working with a good network marketing company will give you real-life business experience…remember this it is not what you know that makes you rich, but what you don’t know that makes you poor.”
He continues and says, “The number one skill for entrepreneurs is the ability to sell. Why? Because…Sales = Income. That is why Donald Trump and I recommend Network Marketing as a way to increase your sales and leadership skills.”
Not to mention Network Marketing is one of the 3 ways he talks about getting into the “B” Quadrant for creating passive income or residual income. I read that, and it made sense to me.
I Have A Question For You. How Many People Are You “Leading” And Inspiring Now?
My first network marketing organization has over 70,000 people in it. That organization is still growing. That is like 3 to 5 Army Divisions (10,000- 20,000 soldiers in a Division). People like you created this. Not some company.
You Want To Test Your Leadership Skills? Do Network Marketing.
Most veterans who go for a corporate job will find themselves greatly under-employed. Their leadership skills will be dulled not sharpened. Their dreams will shrink under the demands of the job. They will say stuff like “I don’t have any time.”
We all have time. Don’t think you have time? Have your smart phone sound an alarm every 30 minutes…then write down what you did in that 30 minutes…You, just like me will figure out you have plenty of time.
I built a business part-time in network marketing to where I was making $15,000 a month while I was a full-time manager at Dell (50-70 hours a week). Glad I didn’t use “I don’t have the time” as an excuse…it would have kept me from earning millions.
Another scenario that can seduce you in…and then backfire: Starting your own business.
Starting your own business where you are the specialist like a consultant, doctor, realtor, plumber, accountant, etc or a “mom and pop” type business where you have 10 employees or less. You will never have any time off and if you stop working – the income stops.
I saw both of those paths and neither offered residual income. So I went with Network Marketing. Best move I ever made.
So if you have any “experiences” or history with Network Marketing/MLM/Multi-Level Marketing…then this former Army Captain is just asking you to put that baggage aside and learn more about it from someone who has done it.
It is because I listened to this advice and not that of people who told me “those things don’t work”…that I’ve experienced real personal freedom.
